A Spring Success!

Opening Door's First Annual US Charity Auction & Art Night was a huge success! Over 75 items were sold and 4 items auctioned with all of the proceeds going towards completing the renovation of the new facility. Attendees enjoyed an evening packed with Ugandan music, dance, and history. Co-founder Lucy Mutebi shared the roots of her and Anne Abels' passion for working with children with learning and physical disabilities. The Mutebi family also presented Jeff Sadowski with an award for his late wife Susan Sadowski in recognition of the support and contributions she has made towards Opening Doors. Items that were sold a the event are now available for purchase online!
Spring Fundraiser

Mark your calendars for May 25th because Opening Doors is introducing their first annual Charity Auction & Art Night. From 5:00-8:00pm at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Opening Doors is partnering with the Black Awareness Society for Education to bring an immersive cultural fundraiser to further the mission of Opening Doors. The night will be full of traditional food, music, and dance, along with an interactive station where you can participate in the art workshop that the children at Opening Doors go through. There will also be an auction and a raffle of traditional Ugandan items, artwork from the children, and local Detroit brands. Click the button below to buy your ticket today!

Christmas Joy

A semester long clothing and sporting goods drive lead by fundraiser coordinator Nicholas Mutebi comes to fruition brings an abundant amount of smiles and joy all around. From the infants who stay at Opening Doors to our volunteers, everyone was overjoyed at how much love and support the Mutebi family brought from the States. This clothing drive provided a surplus of clothes that will be used to help future students of Opening Doors. With help from cousins from the United Kingdom, this clothing drive has sparked a flame of passion and inspiration to further the mission of Opening Doors.

Wayne State Gives Back
December 2, 2017
A big thank you to Nicholas Mutebi and the Wayne State University Athletic Department for collecting over 300 pounds of clothing and sporting goods for Opening Doors. Nicholas is a USA fundraiser coordinator for Opening Doors and from October 2017 to December 2017 facilitated the collection of clothing from infant sizes to adult sizes and a wide range of sporting equipment for the students to use.
